I stared at the mass of items I’d accumulated over a single year. It had filled an entire house. And now, when I pulled down everything – the photo frames, the clothing racks, even the cooker, it could barely fit onto the floor of the home.

How was I going to move?
Fortunately, some friends came to help me, driving a small, red Toyota Yaris to bring my items, bit by bit. We took 3 carloads before we eventually managed to move everything. But even then, not everything was finished.

I still had to carry it out.
Today, if you’re looking for a mover in Singapore, Google it, and you’d find a long list of movers. On the surface it doesn’t look like a complex business. All you need is a truck, and some muscles.
But let me take you behind the scenes, to what you should actually look out for.

A site survey to evaluate how many items to move, and how much it would cost you
You might look at this and wonder:
huh? A site survey? What’s that?
It’s to count your items, and make sure that we’re charging you right. We will assess the walkway, how long the staircase is, and whether we need to do any physical gymnastics to get your things through.
Don’t laugh. We’re serious.
It’s not that easy to just move a 30kg chest of drawers in and out of a squeezy HDB flat, into your dream condominium.
When you call a mover and ask him how much it costs, he’d probably quote you a generic price.
For us, we believe in going the extra mile. We would actually go down to your home. Can’t do that? We will even be willing to count based on the pictures and videos you send us, though that’s not preferred.
Reliable movers that are contactable

We know. You’re already stressed from having to pull off every thing from the walls, you’re close to pulling your hair out. But sometimes, movers come late. You call them, and they don’t pick up, because they are understaffed.
That’s why we do things differently.
Beyond those movers on the ground, we also have a team of administrative staff that you can call and liaise with. You might be still packing, and you’re not ready for the movers to come yet.
Call us.
We’re always there. Because we care. And no, it’s not just a corny phrase. Our team does care.

Movers that actually care about your things, like it was theirs
Here’s a story we love. Once, an ornamented table nearly fell, and one of our men injured himself trying to keep the table safe. This is not just hyperbole.

It’s true. And we don’t say it to tell you how great we are, but to simply say that many movers are stressed out, it’s hot, and they just want to get moving ASAP.
They don’t want you to tell them to be careful, to do this, and that. They just want to move things.
Fast. And as a result, occasionally, things get damaged.
The Helping Hand is different. With us, because we limit the number of moves we do a day, every team that goes out isn’t rushed to move things quickly, at the risk of the items. Instead, they have the time to cling-wrap your items, so that your things are safe.

Value for money, with no strange add-ons like “$80 for that flight of stairs!”
You might think – for this level of service, am I paying an acceptable amount of money?
For example, a typical HDB four-room flat move might cost between $210 to $380, depending on the amount of items in your house. That might sound like a lot.
Especially in today’s economy, when inflation seems a persistent problem. Splashing $200 for a house move, with professional movers, seems like an unnecessary expense.

The alternative? You keep bottom-fishing. You search for the cheapest. And without doubt, when you pay for the cheapest, you end up with teething pains like damaged furniture, or the contractor asking to add on fees for ‘that long corridor’, or that flight of stairs.

A transparent fee
Having been in the industry for this long, we know that the margins in moving is not high. Let’s break apart the costs for you.
You’ve the manpower costs, boxing costs, and the transportation costs. All these add into the final price. Some companies prefer to quote a low price earlier, and then add on costs after the move. Shocked? Just try one of the ‘cheapest’ movers.
But for us, because we do the site survey, we’re able to tell how much each move would cost you.
A worry-less move

At the end of the day, no one can tell you that one mover is better than the other. But if you want a move that you just hand over to someone, without worrying, then you can trust us.
